Physical Education
At Willandra we value the participation of all children in our Physical Education program, and we provide a program that enables them to participate at their own level. In order to achieve this, lessons are designed to be fun and enjoyable as well as providing opportunities to develop skills. Physical Education lessons are varied in order to expose students to a range of sports, games and activities and skill development.
Summer sports focus on cricket, volleyball, t-ball, softball, tennis, ball skills and general fitness. Winter sports have an emphasis on netball, football, soccer, and cross country running. For those children who enjoy competition, we have our faction and interschool carnivals including long jump and triple jump.
The Eagles Cup Competition involves the senior students. This is an interschool competition on Friday afternoons throughout Term Two. Our school is involved with this every year and students compete against other schools in football, soccer, hockey and netball.
Our school is very involved with sporting clinics whenever possible. We have participated in cricket clinics and AFL clinics. The Physical Education program extends to the Pre Primary students – Which develops their underarm and overarm throwing skills, catching, balancing and gross motor skills. Overall the Physical Education program is thriving and growing. With a large emphasis on fun and enjoyment we wish this to continue.
