Science
Year 1-6 students attend Science for one hour per week within a rotational timetable. The content taught focuses Biological, Chemical, Physical and Earth Sciences. The students conduct experiments independently, collect and gather results, write procedures, explanations and conclusions. Students are given various opportunities to explore the world around them.
There is a strong focus with hands on learning with a literacy component. Students work within small groups to share information, build team work and assist each other with problem solving tasks, experiments and activities. Students in Years 1-6 have access to programmable robots. Robots bring computer science to life. Unlike on-screen only coding, robots let children really see their programs working. Programmable robots provide kids with instant, tangible feedback by allowing them to test in the real world as they go.
Science Extension Programs is available for selected students. Students attend Science for an extra hour per week, where they have specialised Science tutoring using a variety of resources including the use of drones. These students also attend an end of year excursion to consolidate their learning.
